Normally, I’m not a big fan of baseball, but I do enjoy watching baseball flicks (or any sports flicks for that matter) such as Fever Pitch or even that young cheesy Rookie of the Year way back then. I also enjoy watching the game on the telly, but I could never finish the whole game or entirely understand the rules (simple as they may be).

Now, I’m a fan of Eddie Vedder. I enjoy his music, both as solo or from the megaband Pearl Jam. Mr Vedder is a fan of Chicago Cubs and he wrote this song on request by Ernie Banks, who played for the Cubs for 18 years. How’s that for loyalty?

I don’t know about you, but I find this song a good, morale-pumping anthem for any sport fans to sing on Game day.

They give us the chance to feel like heroes too
Whether we’ll win, and if we should lose

I dig chics that cover The Smashing Pumpkins (see Angela Aki). Amie Miriello, who have just released her debut album earlier this month, captured this song beautifully. Her strong yet melancholy voice almost made this song her’s. Almost.
