To all youse geeks out there, Weezer will be releasing a brand new self-titled album (yet again, now dubbed “The Red Album”) on June 24, 2008. The first single, to be released April 24, 2008, is this track.
Somewhat related to the previous post, I had to search this track high and low for it. It reminds me of why I love mid-90s alternative rock in the first place. Sweetness memory.
If you don’t like this, you ain’t a friend with me.
Did a little searching on Tegan & Sara and I found this track, a cover by Matt Sharp (formerly bassist and co-founded Weezer) and Maya Rudolph, both from The Rentals. Nothing to shout about, but it’s been a while since my last post. And I think the song’s quite alright for a listen. Now I have the urge to dig back those old Rentals tracks.
My call for kaki to go to Bangkok Rock Festival was unheard. So I guess that goes up to smoke. Besides, I checked the flight tix and it cost slightly out of my desired range. So, no go. Just sit me butt tight at home and sulk.
I was on a download frenzy yesterday night. I queued up about 20+ albums to download. I referred to Stereogum’s Top 20 Albums of 2005 for most of them that I didn’t already have. If you want a longer list, and a list of other lists, head over to Pitchfork’s.
Seeing Weezer’s We Are All on Drugs on the worst list is kinda… a good laugh. I just happen to like Weezer but that song can be irritating. But nevertheless, we are all on drugs, aren’t we? Listing Black Eyed Peas’ hump song and that lonely song by some black dude are a spot-on though. Local radio stations can be arses.
The year’s almost coming to an end, and we have an extra second added for it. Yes, scientists will actually stop the clock for a full second at midnight to re-adjust the earth clock or something like that. What can you do in a second? I can fart.
I suppose since it’s the end of the year, I have to come up with a Top 20 list or something? Well, I won’t be doing that. I can’t. I’ve listened far too few new albums/songs to make a top list. I’m still very much into songs from yester-years, and I got a whole lot to catch up.
That aside, and since it’s almost Christmas, I’m putting a treat for you. 5 Christmas-related songs that don’t really sound Christmas-ish at all, well maybe except for Christmastime. It really got the whole Christmas spirit thingie.
