Smashing Pumpkins - That’s The Way (My Love Is)

I haven’t been posting here for a while. Apologies for that.

Smashing Pumpkins’ have just released their latest single a few days ago, That’s The Way (My Love Is). It’s a pretty decent track, somehow managed to remind me of Try, Try, Try from the Machina-era (must be the beat).

What I don’t get is the political-themed CD cover. What’s up with that? First it was Paris Hilton on Tarantula, now it’s Death’s turn. Watch out Mr Eddie Vedder, Mr Corgan is joining politics with a (so-called) love song.

Oh, and the video to the single? It was OK, typical Pumpkins style. Watch it for yourself.

Spinner.com have just posted the new Smashing Pumpkins’ video to the first single, Tarantula. Watch for yourself to decide. I am not impressed by the video.

But the whole album is pretty good, it’s growing on me.

Been listening to the Smashing Pumpkins’ second leaked track, Doomsday Clock, repeatedly and I have to say this: it’s heavy. Really, really heavy.

So far the new album Zeitgeist is shaping up pretty good, based on this track and the first single Tarantula (Paris Hilton on the cover, for real?). No, I am not going to listen to the rest of their new songs from their live shows. I will wait for more decent copies available (read leaks).

If you want to listen to Doomsday Clock, you will have to find it yourself. The last time I posted a leaked track here, I received a letter from the Man.

Oh, did I mention Doomsday Clock will be in the live-action Transformers movie soundtrack too? Awesome.

You have heard the 30-seconds teaser. Now hear the full-blown of a gigantic spider song. I mean really, it’s huge!

First impression: Welcome back Mr Corgan.

Smashing Pumpkins announce upcoming Zeitgeist track list

The track list for Zeitgeist, to be launched July 7th, 2007.

“Is everyone afraid? Has everyone changed?,” Corgan sings on opener “Doomsday Clock,” a big, loud rocker in the vein of Geek U.S.A. from Siamese Dream.

- excerpt from this article at Billboard.com

  1. Doomsday Clock
  2. 7 Shades of Black
  3. Orchid
  4. That’s the Way
  5. Tarantula
  6. Starz
  7. United States
  8. Never Lost
  9. Bring the Light
  10. Come On (Let’s Go)
  11. For God and Country
  12. Pomp and Circumstance

I still remember when the Pumpkins were about to release Machina back in 2000, the media compared it to Gish, the whole back-to-roots thingie. When it was finally released, they tanked it for not living up to hype. Bastards.

Personally, I don’t think the Pumpkins need another Gish or even Siamese Dreams. Both the albums are irreplaceable. And frankly, the Pumpkins can never go back to their glory days of selling millions of albums and topping the charts, not when today’s charts are covered with artists that feature other artists (just take a look at Billboard’s chart, 6 out of 10 of them have artists featuring artists, it’s a trend).

All I hope for is a good rocking album.

Tear me apart from you, where has your heart run to?

Just a quickie this time around. The idleness, quietness and loneliness of the holidays are razor-edge pills to swallow.

If you’ve been following the news, The Smashing Pumpkins have announced live tour dates and the release date of their upcoming comeback album, Zeitgeist, on 7th July 2007 (7-7-7). There are no leaks on how they would sound like without James Iha and D’arcy or Melissa Auf der Maur, but I’m excited there will be another Pumpkins album I can drain myself into, even if the comeback will probably tank after a few tour dates. Don’t hold your breath. Enjoy this Adore-era live video, Tear.

Muse, 25th February 2007. Who’s going?

And Happy Chinese New Year. Yeah. Right.
